Terms of Service
Last updated: 20 May 2026
These terms cover your use of Mikey, a voice-dictation app for macOS and iOS. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. Plain English, no lawyer-speak.
1. What Mikey does
Mikey captures audio from your microphone while you dictate, converts it to text, and inserts that text into whichever app you're using. Some features additionally run the text through a language model to rewrite it. Transcription and rewriting happen on our backend; the app needs an internet connection to work.
2. Your account
You need an account to use Mikey. You're responsible for keeping your sign-in secure and for activity under your account. You must be old enough to enter a contract in your country. One person per account — don't share credentials.
3. Subscription, trial, and billing
- Mikey is free to try for 20 minutes of dictation. After that, continued use requires a subscription (€4.99/month).
- The subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel.
- Billing is handled by Lemon Squeezy as our Merchant of Record. Card details never reach us.
- You can cancel anytime; refunds and cancellation are covered by our Refund Policy.
4. Acceptable use
Don't use Mikey to break the law, infringe others' rights, or abuse the service. Specifically, don't:
- Attempt to overload, probe, or reverse-engineer the backend, or circumvent the free-trial limit or rate limits.
- Resell or redistribute access to the service.
- Use it to produce unlawful, harassing, or harmful content.
We may suspend or close accounts that do these things.
5. Your content
The audio you dictate and the text it produces are yours. We don't claim ownership. We process them only to provide the service — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what's collected and retained (short version: transcripts aren't stored, and your dictation is never used to train AI).
6. Third-party services
Mikey relies on third-party providers for authentication, hosting, speech-to-text, and billing. Their availability and their own terms affect the service. The current list of processors is in the Privacy Policy.
7. Availability and "as is"
We work to keep Mikey running well, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times. The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. Transcription accuracy depends on audio quality, accent, background noise, and the underlying models — it won't be perfect.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mikey and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data or profits, arising from your use of the service. Where liability can't be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for Mikey in the 12 months before the claim.
9. Changes to the service or these terms
We may update, add, or remove features, and we may change these terms. If a change is material, we'll notify you (for example by email or in-app) before it takes effect. Continuing to use Mikey after a change means you accept the updated terms.
10. Termination
You can stop using Mikey and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. On termination, your right to use the service ends; the Privacy Policy explains what happens to your data.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Spain, without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in your country of residence.
